How To Fix The ManageWP Worker Plugin

We all know how good ManageWP is for backing up and managing multiple WordPress websites.

But what happens when their worker plugin fails to connect?

This error is almost annoying enough to make my skin crawl! I completely understand why clients are angry when they submit the ticket to us asking to help!

What Causes The Manage WP Error

If you get in touch with the great team at ManageWP, they'll advise you to ensure that your web host has their IPs whitelisted.

This is a crucial step – but we've already whitelisted them on our servers. While it’s possible they might have added a new one, the issue usually relates back to ModSecurity.

For those who aren’t familiar, ModSecurity is a toolkit for real-time web application monitoring, logging, and access control. I like to think of it as an enabler: there aren’t strict rules dictating what you must do; rather, it’s up to you to decide your own way through the available features. Fortunately, we’ve pre-loaded a set of rules to ensure your website’s security, but occasionally, they may consider the ManageWP worker plugin as a threat!

How To Connect Your Websites

If you’re having trouble connecting, try disabling ModSecurity.

You can do this by logging into cPanel, searching for, and then clicking on ModSecurity. You can then disable it for the domain in question or for your entire cPanel account.

Once it’s disabled, go back over to the ManageWP website and try to connect.

Nine times out of ten this does the trick! Even if you’ve done this before, ModSecurity has a habit of turning back online automatically, especially after a LiteSpeed upgrade.

So the next time you have an issue, make sure to check this! As always though, if you have any doubts or questions our support team is available 24x7 via phone, live chat, or tickets to assist!
